Starting off with one of the biggest returns you can get from investing in your house, the kitchen! Here are some tips on how to avoid breaking the bank on Kitchen updates:
Kitchen
A well-designed and updated kitchen is a must-have for any home. Kitchen updates tend to bring the absolute most bang for the buck according to reports from NAR and Zillow. The thing is, we want to do this cheap! We aren’t talking about full-scale renovations!
Paint your cabinets. This is one of the easiest and most affordable ways to update your kitchen. You can choose a color, or you can simply paint them white to give them a clean, modern look.
Editors Note: While you may be able to get away with using some color here, white or gray would be the best bet!
Change the hardware on your cabinets. This is another easy and affordable way to update your kitchen. You can choose new knobs or pulls to make the cabinets pop. You may also consider new hinges depending on the style of cabinet.
Add a backsplash. A backsplash is a great way to add color and interest to your kitchen. You can choose a backsplash that matches your cabinets or countertops, or you can choose a bolder color to make a statement. You don’t have to know how to do tile either. Backsplash panels are sold at many home improvement stores and are VERY easy to install.
Change or Upgrade Countertops. Countertops that are tired or dated can be brought back to life easily! Buying a new laminate countertop is an option, and so is using a countertop refinisher like this one.
Update your appliances. If your appliances are old and outdated, they can make your kitchen look dated. Consider upgrading to new appliances which will give your kitchen that wow factor!
Add new flooring. If your flooring is old and worn, it can make your kitchen look dingy. Consider replacing your flooring with a new, stylish option. Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) is a good bet. Cheaper than hardwood and easier to install than tile!
Add new lighting. Trendy, updated light fixtures are an easy way to transform the space.
Declutter your kitchen. A cluttered kitchen can make it look messy and disorganized. Take some time to declutter your kitchen and do it to the rest of your house while you’re at it! Cleaning and de-cluttering is the key to raising the value of your house on a budget.
Across a 17 year career in real estate, I can tell you that these tips will add massive value without the need for a full kitchen remodel. On the other hand, if you would rather just sell your house and let us handle the remodeling, we’d love to hear from you!
